Why I Am A Good Writer

I think I am a good writer because I bring my writing to life. I bring my writing to life with many examples relating to the topic I am talking about. I also feel I am a good writer because I organize my writing into the sequence that I will introduce it in my paragraphs. When writing I can usually write about any topic even if it does not interest me. I am also a good writer because I have attended Composition and Research with Danielle who has pushed me and taught me new ideas to enhance my writing techniques.

If I Had My First Semester to Do Over Again, I Would Do....

If I could do my first semester over again I would change a few things. I would change my study habits and the way I study. Another thing I would change is the way I manage my time and the different extra circular activities I participate in. This semeste I have recieved many parking tickets. I will change my flaws to make next semseter even better.

My study habits were good for high school, but not for college. I should practice studying with the tel vision and my cell phone turned off. Another tip I have to do is not only skim the chapter, but actually read word for word the text. I also would change waiting until the night before to study. I should have done a little a day so I did not have to cram. Studying is an important part of college that I need to get a better grip on.

Many of times I have put off my work for the last minute. I would procrastinate all week and then the night before an assignment was due I would have to stay up late at night to complete it. I would also work a little too much during the week and I should have been on campus minimizing my work load. Good time management is something I will improve for next semester.

I wish I could change how many parking tickets I have recieved this semester. I want to change myself from being so lazy and park my car where it is suppose to be. I could have save a lot of money, but instead I choose to become lazy. I am suppose to park in the freshman lot, but I usually park in the upper classmen lot and get tickets. I will not do this next semester because I am going to park where I should.

I wish I could do my first semester over again. I think I would be more successful than what I am. I would work to my potential that I know I can and not procrastinate with my work, manage my time, and recieve no parking tickets. I will learn from my mistakes and make next semster even better.

I Wish I Knew About

My first semester of college was filled with many obstacles that I had to overcome. I wish I would have been able to know more about the classes. College classes are totally different from high school classes and one reason is because professors use power points and lecture as their methods of teaching. In a few of my classes many of the professors moved at a rapid paced. In college class periods are at least fifty minutes long. I know I could have avioded some of my obstalces that I had if I would have had more knowledge about college classes.

Professors basically always use power points and lectures to teach their students the material they need to know. In high school my teachers used numerous methods like games, lectures, power pints, worksheets, and work from the book. This class structure that my professors use was a drastic change for me that I had to cope with fast. Using power points and lectures is not the easiest method of learning for me. I had to learn how to pull information from the power points or lectures that I thought would be the key points.

In class instructors nearly swamp students with a lot of information that is important. They also do this at a rather speedy pace. When instructors present information to students they are talking very fast and flying through the material. They try to squeeze about a week worth of work into a fifty minute class session. This can get very stressful for me to try to keep up to their pace. In class you really have to open your ears and pay attention to the information being brought forth.

Class periods in college are at least fifty minutes long. In high school classes were only forty minutes long. This was a change for me because I was not use to sitting this long and having to pay attention to a lecture. I wish I would have known about class sessions being this long so I could have better prepared myself. It sounds silly only a ten minute difference, but I makes a big difference especially if you are not use to the long length of time.

Classes are a huge part of college and being adjusted to them is a big help. Knowing how to tackle a course to the best of my ability is a weakness that I will work on for next semester. College is a big trial and error period and I have to learn from my mistakes that I make.

Soul Food In My Family For Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving traditions

A tradition my family has at Thanksgiving is we have soul food for Thanksgivng dinner. We do not have the chicken and instead we have turkey and ham. We do have the bake macronni and cheese, collard greens, sweet potatos, stuffing, and so much more. I just wanted to find a picture of soul food because that is one of our traditions in my family

Back To The Vern

Hey everyone. Today is Monday and another day at the Vern. My Thanksgiving was very good but too fast. I ate so much and felt as though I gained ten pounds. I spent Thanksgiving with my mom's side of the family first and then went to my dad's side of the family. They tired to fed me twice but I was not having it. I am trying to maintain my figure. lol. I enjoyed myself and love being around my families or should I say families. lol. But I am out for now. Bye.

What A Morning

This morning I babysat my niece for my sister. She cried for like an hour and wanted to be held. She is in that stage right now when she just wants to be held. She is one year old. Her birthday is on Halloween. That is my baby and I love her to death but she was being a little brat today. Well that is all for now so talk to everyone later.

Today is my favorite day of the week, Friday. I am so excited. Tonight I am going to a basketball game and then going out with some friends. I have to go out and buy a new outfit after FYS today. I am going to go to the mall and hopefully I will find somethig there. Well I am out for now.

I GOT A BREAK

Today I am so happy because I do not have to go to work. Do not get me wrong I love my job, but it just gets a little stressful sometimes. I have the next 3 days off, but I know they are going to fly by like crazy. I just needed a break so I gave myself off for these days. I am going to relax and I'm sure do a little shopping also because what is a break without shopping.

What A Night

Last night I did not fall asleep until 3 am. It was horrible. I was on the phone and tossing and turning all night long. On top of all that my tv was messed up and I have to go to sleep with the tv. Then this morning I was on the phone with comcast for 25 minutes and 25 seconds. I was on hold for 10 mins. I hate being on hold. Then to find out it was a minor thing that messed my tv up and I could have fixed it on my own. Then they tried to sell me more channels and like a sucker I took them.

I HATE BEING SICK

This weekend I felt like crap. I was sick all weekend, but that did not stop me from doing what I needed to do. My nose was stuffed up and I also had to work at 7 in the morning in Saturday. Everything turned out okay because I no longer have a stuffy nose and can breathe regular. I hate to be sick and hate feeling like crap when I am sick. Well that is all I have to say for now.

My Friday Night

Last Friday night my church put on a program for college students and students planning to attend college. They spoke on how to be safe on campus and utilizing all of your resources on campus like your RA and Residence Life. We also had a speaker talk about a program that Reading has called DID. She informed us on their duties and responsbilities. It was very informational and I recieve a lot from it. They also fed us after the speakers were done presenting their information. The menu was Italian.

Metacommentary

Metacommentary is when you interpert what somebody says. I think this would is really cool and I just love saying it. Class was really cool today though and I enjoyed myself. There was not many people there today though.

A New Location

I having been doing some hard core thinking and I might not live on campus next year. My best friend and I might get our own apartment next year. We have a showing for tomorrow for a two bedroom in town. I am kind of excited and hope all works out good. I have also checked into a few other spots where I know I would like to live and could manage the bills. Well that is all for now.

Its Coming REAL Soon

Today is Tuesday November 6 and Thanksgiving is coming right around the corner. I do not know what my family is doing this year yet. All I know is that I have to make about two to 3 different stops. I have to visit my mom's side, then my dad's side and also my step-families side if we do not do anything together with them this year. I can not wait though because I know the food is going to be good.

I love Daylight Savings Time

The daylight savings time has really been doing some good for me. Last night felt forever and when I woke up today I felt very refreshed. I woke up at least every other hour thinking it was time to get up for class. I am loving the extra hour of sleep and am greatly benefiting from it. Well I am done for now.

It's Friday

Hey everyone...I was so nice how we did not have class this whole week. Composition and Research is one of the classes I do not mind going to though. Danielle if you are reading this please come back and save us.lol. It is Friday and I am so excited about it. On a downward note I do have an exam today in psy. the class I hate the most. Nah but I did study so pray for me that I do good please. I'm out.

HaLlOwEeN

Today is Halloween. It is not one of my favorite hoildays though. My little brother is going to go trick or treating. My niece's birthday is today. Her name is Zamiyah Lynn Jackson. She is the big one years old. She is the best and I love her so much, but of course along with my other neices and nephews. Halloween is not that great and we are even worshiping the devil when you really think about it. I know it is fun though to get dressed up, but its my niece's birthday so I am going to go and spend it with her tonight once I get off of work.

What A Day

It is so crazy how I have so much to do today. I have to work, go to meetings, and study for my test. I have faith that I will get an okay grade in God. I just am trying to balance this college life style. I know I can do it though, so pray for me.

Yes...Its Monday

Yes...its Monday again. Well class was cancelled today which was a prayer answered. I just wish I would have knew before I got up and dressed. Scheduling Day

Hey everyone...So I met with my advisor today to pick out my classes for next semester. She is really nice and took the time to work with me. I love it when you feel like people do care. It was a great experience because this is the first time I have ever schedule my classes like this before. Well today is an easy day since I am done now. Well off to do some work.

Class Today

So today in class we reviewed the MLA format. It was so boring. I almost fell asleep in class. I didnt want to be rude and I wanted to look like I was intreseted. I know it will benefit me in the long run so thank you Danielle. Well I am out.

Tuesday

Hey everyone...so today was an easy day. I only had one class. And I am loving it. I have to work today though. But its all good. I work at a retirement home called the Manor at Market Square. Its really nice. I am a supervisor in the dietary department for the evening part time workers. That is all I have to say for now.

Yes...It's Monday

Its Monday and my weekend was great. I went to my sister in law's baby shower and it was so nice. I also did some shopping at the mall and a few other places. I caught up on a little sleep that I was missing. Overall everything was good and I had a great time. Well I am out for now.

This Weekend

Its another weekend and I once again am so happy for it. My sister in laws baby shower is this Saturday in Philly. So I will be doing that on Saturday along with a little shopping. I can't wait. I love the weekend because it is time to catch up on all the activites you were not able to do through the week due to school, work, or other obligations you may have.

I Got My Test Back

Hey everyone...I got my test back today. And yes I did pass. I am so happy. As long as I keep my eyes on God I know I can do anything with his help. So please keep praying for me as I continue to pray for you

THe Discussion In Class Today

In class today we had a heated debate about the speaker we went to see on Monday. We also talked about the different issues that are on the rise and people have strong feeling about. I feel that we should stop talking and get up and do something about the situation instead of nothing. I have learned that some people can be so self center in the way of thinking that is all the care about, themselves. America needs a real eye opener to show them that it is not all about them and you do not have to have money to help, but simply volunteering your time and services is what really matters.

Math Test

Today I had a test in my math class. I studied all night last night and pray that I would do good. It is hard in college. It is not like high school where you can just fly by your work. I hope I did good and God answered my pray. Talk to you soon.

"Convoy of Hope"

Today for comp. and reseach class we went to see a speaker named Karin Mallet. We heard about the mission she was apart of to help victims of Katrina. She told her expierence and also shared with us the documentaries that her crew taped. It was very mind changing. It made me think of everything I have and these people had and how they lost it in a matter of hours. It made me get a whole different view point of life. I know you are probably thinking that I am so late, but I just never took into consideration all that these people went through. It was a very worth while presentation and I am so glad that Danielle took us to hear Ms. Mallet.

This Sunday

On this Sunday after church my mom is going to cook for me. I can not wait until I sit down at the table and chaw down. I asked my mom to cook baked mac and cheese, sweet potatos, and much more. I love my mom and grandmom cooking. Their cooking is so good.

The Maury Show

I was watching Maury today. The show was about young children who are out of control. I think it is so crazy how these children act to the parents and do not care about what they do. If I was one of their parents I would not need to take them on the Maury show I would just beat them. A good old fashion whipping is what many of those children need.

My Car Is Bacc

So my parents took my car to get fix today and we thought it would only be like 25 dollars. well yea they called my mom back and said it was worse then what they thought and i needed a whole new tire. YEA...well it ended up costing 160 dollars. yea i kno...it was crazy. but i got my car back thank God...so im happy i guess i just have to be a little more careful when i drive...i'll holla

the weekend

My weekend was good even though I had to get a jump saturday night and then like an hour later i got a flat tire. But i still had a good weekend. It was nice since it was days. i caught up on some sleep that i needed. i also worked a little bit and my church had its 69th church anniversery on sunday. which was so nice the group that i am in dance and we had some other dancers come to and another church. it was packed in the place but it was so nice. and the food was soooooooooo bangin. well i'll holla.MyZz DiVa

Global Warming

No i dont think America is responsible for leading the fight against global warming. I think we get into enough stuff as it is. We need to keep out or try to get involved in as less as possible. But i really dont have much to say on this topic. Well i'll holla

Is America Ready to Have a Black Prez...

Yea I think America is ready to have a black president. A black president would lay it out and play absolutly no games.lol. America has be living in the showdow for too long and with a black president it would come out and see new things. I think the little bit of racism that is out there would cease and be done if a black president would get into office. I think that would do our nation some good with a black president. And yes i woman president is needed. I think the male presidents are to easy and can be push over. and most of the time it is the first lady who is calling all the shots, we just do not see it.

We Made History

My conversation my cousin was so good today. I love my cousin so much and we never really talk that much. And today was it. We talk forever about everything. She told me her problems and I told her mine. It was so good. I just love being close to my family. Cause friends come and go but family sticks by you though thick and thin.

Homecoming Weekend @ My High Skool

hey ya'll...so today is my high school's homecoming. I cant wait. Homecoming is a big deal at Reading High and everyone come home to see who will be the next queen. It is tradition that the day of the game there is a big fall pep rally and it is so much fun. Everyone gets to see all the diiferent sports and of course the homecoming court is displayed there. And your probably thinking wow she is really into this but that is because I was on the court last year. And I had a blast. I didnt get queen but I got 2nd runner up which is darn good when you go to a school with about 4,ooo kids. Yes 4,000. lol. But I had so much fun...I looked so fly and better than the other 22 gurls that I ran against. I handed out flower pens which were so cute and bags of candy and candy bars. Oh I went all out. My Easy Day

Work

The new friendships

I have made some really great life long time friendships in these short four weeks. I have had many exciting moments that will last a lifetime in my memory. One of my new friends are Daphne. She is such a cool person and we have become very close. I can see us in like 5 years from now and still be mad tight. Another good friend I made is Racheal which is Daphne's roommate. We all three always do everything together. Rach is our driver all the time since she likes to drive and I only like driving if I have to. But we have so much fun. Everyday is a new experience. And I love it. We are very friendly and we talk to everyone. We also have made many other guy and girl friends also that we chill with from time to time. I love college and especially now that I met Daphne and Racheal. We the fly gurls...lol...

Class on Wednesday

Class on Wednesday was really good. We talked about the Juna Six which was interesting. We also had a heated debate. That is my favorite class. I feel like I could be in there all day long. But not much to talk about today. Im out.

First College Test

Okay so I have my first college test on Thursday. Its in my survey of math class. I hate math but I am doing pretty well in this class. I hope I get a good grade on my test. So pray for me. I'm out.

My Weekend @ Outdoor World

My weekend was off the hook. I had so much fun at Outdoor World. Outdoor World is a resort with camper or trailers. It also has an indoor pool and indoor water slides and an outdoor pool. I went with my cousins,friends, and my boo. So yeah it was so much fun. I loved it. So that is where I spent my weekend...anywhere but campus. I'll holla

Its Friday

Yes friday is finally here. Even though the week flys by I am still happy its Friday. This weekend I am going to Outdoor World in Lancaster, PA. I can not wait until 2:40 after my last class to be out of here. I will write next week to let you know how outdoor world is. Im out.

Every College Girl Should Read This

College is sooooooo different from high school. One major change is the guys. College boys look so much better than the average high school boy. lol. However there are some downs to college boys. They want so much more. And no Im not talking just about sex lady's but attention. As young women though we need to stick to our ground and not sleep with every boy that smiles at you or says that you have nice eyes. But dont get me wrong have fun and live it up. but also protect yourself cause it aint that good. And DO NOT fall for the line but its college because you do not want to have to live with something for the rest of your life due to one night.

Today's Class

Class today was interseting. We talked about what topics we are going to write our first paper on. I chose abortion and how it should be illegal. I have very strong feelings on that topic. I feel that we do not have the write to play God. That is all for now.

My 1st College Quiz

My first college quiz was not a bad as I expected. I recieved a B on my quiz. I was extremly happy especially because I thought I didnt do good. I was excited and happy for the rest of the class period. Nothing can bring my day down now.

The new friendships I made

During the course of these last three weeks at school I have made many new friends. I have made bonds that I feel will last a lifetime. I have met many new people that are cool and I can see myself hanging out with outside of classes. I have met people who have made me laugh and had a good time when there was nothing to do. I am so happy for all the new realtionships that I have made and can not wait until the many more memories we make.

My friends

Another important part of my life other than family is friends. My friends are always there when ever I need them. We always make an activity fun whether its suppose to be or not. If you hang around us for a day and you will want to hang out with us all the time. We are all very good young adults. We are all active in our churches, community, and most of us hold down a part time job. My friends are more than friends, but we are a family.

the weekend

The weekend is finally here. I have a few plans which include, working,going out to a party with a few friends. My weekends usually go by very fast. The weekends are a time to wind down from the long week of work you have just completed. Also I like to use the weekends to relax and chill with my cousins. I cant wait until my last class today at 2:40 when it is over. Hope your weekend will be as exciting as mine will be.

Family

A very important pat of my life is family. Family will always be there for you in your times of trouble and need. Family will always tell you the truth no matter if it hurts or not. Members of your family are going to side by your side through thick and thin. Family is a huge part of my life and I am forever thankful for my family.

First Year Semester

I think my first semester is going to be good. I hope it is full of exciting moments that will last a lifetime. I also hope that the work load is not to hard and I will get good grades. I pray that my teachers are not to mean and are a little understanding. I hope I will learn a lot and will gain the tools that I will need in my future for my career.

Class Discussion

In class today we had an intersting discussion. We debated the fact of whether or not cows had rights. Many felt as though since they are just animals they don't have any rights. I stood strong on the side that felt as though they shoukd have rights and be treated fairly. I feel everyone has a right to their own opinion but one it comes to living things why shouldnt they have the right to be treated with more respect.

my first week of college

My first week of the college life was fun of fun and exciting experiences. I made many new friends within the first week of classes and orientation. I learned how to survive on my own without asking my mom for every little thing. I also learned how to adapt to life outside of the four walls I was used to living in. All in all my experience was great, it will be forever memorable to me.
